Extra-Curricular Report by Amy East, Vice Chair and Parent Governor 

The team at Waunfawr ran extra-curricular activities throughout the year of 2022-2023.  There was a combination of free clubs run by individual teachers and teaching assistants, and three outside education suppliers. The content was wide ranging.  Clubs included; Cooking, Animation, STEM, Music and Drama, Clay, Sewing and ‘Fun’.  We at the school recognise the importance of clubs as an opportunity to develop ambitious, confident learners who are willing to try new skills.  Many pupils find that learning outside of the more structured, classroom environment beneficial to their confidence as they maybe with children of different ages and with similar interests. 

We arranged many trips and activities for the pupils in this school year.  Many pupils enjoyed trips such as; Techniquest, The Eden Centre at Christmas, Museums, Oakerwood for Year 6 and a wonderful whole school trip to Noah’s Ark.  A whole school competition for Eisteddfod was held in the school for which there was a real buzz from all involved.
