Additional Learning Needs

Additional Learning Needs Co-ordinator

Additional Learning Needs Report by Miss Shepherd Acting ALNCo

At Waunfawr Primary, we have a dedicated Additional Learning Needs (ALN) team consisting of our ALN Co-ordinator, class teachers, teaching assistants and outside professionals who work collaboratively to support the specific needs of our pupils. This team regularly meets to discuss and plan interventions and strategies for individual pupils.

We also have a designated ALN room where pupils can receive additional support and resources tailored to their needs. This room is equipped with specific resources and equipment, such as sensory tools and alternative communication aids, to help meet the needs of our pupils.

Furthermore, we have developed strong partnerships with external agencies and professionals to ensure a holistic approach to meeting our pupils' needs. This includes regular communication and collaboration with the Local Authority ALN team, health services, and other relevant organizations.

In addition to the specific provision for pupils with ALN, we also prioritize the

well-being and mental health of all our pupils. We have implemented various strategies and initiatives to promote positive mental health and well-being, such as mindfulness activities, social and emotional learning programs, and a strong pastoral support system.

Overall, at Waunfawr Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all pupils can thrive and reach their full potential. We continuously strive to adapt our provision to meet the evolving needs of our pupils and ensure that they receive the necessary support and resources to succeed.

If you are concerned about your child and would like to discuss our additional learning provisions please contact me via the school office or via direct email:
