After a frantic and busy first term in which all of the pupils did amazingly, we now move onto our new topic!

Studying China
We had a fantastic week studying China with our friend Chang, we looked at why they celebrate different animals each year, these animals forming part of the Zodiac calendar. During the week we created our weemees to access the Blog pages, created clay animal masks and tasted their food as well.
Take your time to view some of our work, we completed lots in a short space of time...

Exploring the Cold in Antarctica
After an amazing 2 weeks studying Antarctica, it's time to share our work with the world. We had a brief visit from an explorer who asked us to apply for 2 spaces on his research team, and Oliver Pereira and Sophie Prosser wrote amazing letters to be chosen for the jobs! We also explored the use of our different senses in finding things around the school and the use of a blindfold during PE, as well as finding out what plants need to grow healthy by growing our own cress; we had some very interesting results...
Here is a little of what we did over the 2 weeks studying the coldest continent in the world:
The Parent Challenge!
We found out that plants need sunlight, water, air and normally warmth, but which of these can affect the colouring of the plant and how healthy it is when they are missing?
Answers in a blog please!
The Speedmark Challenge
Whilst studying Brazil, whose national sport is football, the whole class took part in the Speedmark Challenge, an opportunity to find out who kicks the hardest and fastest in the class. The children were fantastic in supporting each other and had some stunning results; watch our slideshow as the top kickers in the class are revealed at the end...even the staff had a go!

The Speedmark Challenge - February 2014
We next have an interrupted 2 week stop studying Brazil as we study a warmer place in the world. During our explorations we will be finding out about the fruits of Brazil, what the country is like and some of their celebrations and traditions.
Many thanks for your continued support and I look forward to seeing you at our forthcoming Parents Evenings this week,
Mr McEwan and Bebe the Brazilian.
